February 26, 2013 - Sub Adult Attacks
Lucy was chirping and then Larry was chirping. Then a juvenile went by the camera and Larry chased after it. Then they went back in the nest.

A juvy went by Larry's nest at 5:30 yesterday. Larry jumped up at the juvy. Larry scared it off. Lucy was squaking!

Yesterday anoher eagle came and attaked Lucy and Larry. The attack was at about 5:30. The eagle that attacked Lucy and Larry looked like a 3 year old. Larry jumped up on the eagles back and scared away the eagle. Larry scared it away to save Lucy and Lucy said, "Great job, Larry!"

These are what students believe as they watched the video yesterday. We discussed the event. The past two seasons we have seen juveniles come into the nest. The young eagle most likely came in curious, and looking for food. We see it as an attack, because of the normal reaction from Larry and Lucy. They will protect their territory at all cost. Eagles will even kill other eagles if threatened enough. It's a tough world out there!
